Emergency Eye Care

Ocular Emergencies/ Eye Infections

urgent eye care
Ocular trauma or loss of vision can occur at any time.  In most cases, getting treated in a timely manner is necessary to preserve or regain vision.

Not all red and irritated eyes are created equal!  That red eye can be a bacterial infection, viral infection, allergies or a serious corneal ulcer.  It is important to have your eye problem checked by an eye doctor.

At Vision Institute, we are always happy to see patients on short notice for emergency eye care. All our doctors have extensive experience with ocular emergencies.  Our office is equipped to handle most eye injuries or diagnose pathologies that could cause vision loss or pain.

If you are experiencing any of the following, you may have an ocular emergency.
  • Chemical splashes and burns
  • Sudden vision loss
  • Distorted vision
  • Sudden onset light sensitivity (photophobia)
  • Sudden double vision (diplopia)
  • Sudden onset eye pain
  • Blunt trauma
  • Penetrating trauma
  • Foreign object/matter into eye
  • Ocular scratches (abrasions)
  • Flashes and/or sudden onset floaters
  • Sudden glare/halos around lights
  • Sudden droopy lid (Ptosis)
  • Swelling of the lid
  • Ocular discharge
  • Red/Pink eye
