Dry Eye

Dry eye disease is a chronic and progressive disease and Colorado is one of the most arid and dry climates in the United States which makes the disease more prevalent within our community. Symptoms of chronic dry eye include watering, grittiness, itchy eyes, pain, and discomfort. There are a few main factors when determining the root cause of your dryness. Meibomian gland dysfunction, infections, and environmental allergies are just a few causes we evaluate.

Using an advanced camera your doctor can take an IR photo for your glands to determine if they are functioning properly. They can also use a temporary stain on the surface of your eye to determine if there is any damage happening to your cornea because there is a lack of proper tear film.

We can treat your symptoms if a diverse array of treatment options. One of our favorites is the TempSure Envi. This is a radio frequency device that is massaged over the eye area and delivers a regulated amount of heat and radio frequency waves to improve the overall function of the meibomian glands. The biggest side effect of TempSure is the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, who doesn’t love that?! TempSure takes about 15 minutes per treatment and requires multiple appointments to help get the best results.
